Oh, I was SOOOOOO wrong the other day when I guessed there would be one batch before CNY and that it would come in late january! (Well, we don’t know if we’ll get another one, but now I think there is a very good possibility!) I usually hate to be wrong, but this time I LOOOOOOVE it! Do you want me to make more bad predictions? Seems like it worked ;-)! Congrats to everyone who got there referral in this batch and to everyone else waiting, being one small step closer to your kiddo!

Congratulations to all the new families! We just celebrated our two year “metcha” day with our darling from Maoming, and I see two babies in the batch from the same SWI. If either of these Nan babies would like to read about our journey (of course, now two years old) you can visit our blog http://www.myadoptionwebsite/threesacharm . I am sorry to say I never updated it, but our Maoming beauty is doing great. You probably know about the yahoo group for this SWI, look forward to seeing you there!

I can’t believe it! I’m home sick today, so I’ve been online a lot following everyone’s wonderful news on the blog and in the forum. So many referrals, LOAs and PAs! I thought I might have prematurely had our own SN referral listed, but to my surprise, I just got a call from our agency and…WE GOT OUR PA! This is a huge relief! In case anyone remembers my post from a few months ago, my husband has MS, and we were very worried we might not be approved in the final stages. We are in March review, and a few months ago had to respond to several of CCAA’s questions. We’ve been waiting and waiting to see March review close to know we were safe. This is such a good sign. We still need that coveted LOA, but I actually think now we will get it!!!
December 30th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Congratulations to all the families who have waited so long!Any idea why the dossiers have not been reviewed? Any hope this will move again? It has been a few months…thanks again RQ for all that you do to keep our spirits up while we wait.

I don’t know if this is the place to ask…but how do I find the meaning of my baby’s Chinese name???? I have looked on several name sites and all three of her names are not listed! I also don’t really understand how it is read…like is the first name really the last name? Is the Middle name the first name???
Help! I’m confused and want to know as I was going to use it as a third name on her birth certificate! Surely, in a group this big someone can help me!
If you understand all of this…please contact me through my blog…! Thank you!!!!
And a huge CONGRATULATIONS to everyone and the sweet babies that have come!!!!
December 30th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
hmmm… not sure how I feel about being the only one listed in the “not work safe” section… there are other blogs with music listed above in the normal “safe” section… This is surely discrimination!!! Can’t people just turn off their speakers if this is an issue?
Sorry, I am just grouchy as I haven’t received my referral info yet!!!!!!! LOL
December 30th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Thank you…guess I should have checked the forum first! Very helpful with the whole “naming issue”! There is SO MUCH TO DO AND LEARN all of a sudden! Not a bad thing though…

We received our PreApproval for our daughter today!!! Blog is http://waitingforlexie.blogspot.com/.
December 31st, 2008 at 2:28 am
Congrats to all.
Not to put a damper on things but one of the blogs has an agency that won’t give any info over the phone. What agony and suspence not to get some facts like age, name, province… I feel totally bummed for you and hope you get your package first thing in the morning!
December 31st, 2008 at 9:40 am
To all the people from RQ who have visited my blog, left comments, emailed me with kind words, advice, and made donations, Thank you It means so much to me and my daughter Norah….I love the fact that there are so many people willing to give of there time for my daughter, I will be making my blog into a keepsake book for my family some time down the road. I will be able to look back throw it with my daughter look when she is older and show her that there are people form Dallas, China ,Guam, CA,
All over the world, who cared about her, knew her life was special and wanted her to know it.
Lori and I will definitely give back all the love and support we have received to the kids of China when we get home. And when my lid of 7-22-06 gets here I will be so overjoyed for the families who got there referrals on that day.

Congratulations to all the referrals for your sons and daughters. They are all gorgeous children.
December 31st, 2008 at 4:42 pm
I am wondering how it is that all these blogs show everything about the child: name, birthdate, et cetera. Over here in Europe agencies are frantically banishing all internet sharing until after you receive TA. They say that CCAA forbids it now (the sharing of traceable information through the internet). Some agencies even make you sign an agreement that you will not do this and make a less-than-veiled threat that you will be endangering your procedure, should you do otherwise.
I for one am all for openness. But how to explain this big US-European difference… I’m at a loss here. Anyone?

I just read Pucca1972′s post. Is this true? I’ve not heard this before, but would certainly not want to jeopardize anyone else’s adoption …

FxBrknHrts…
I know that parents are “over the moon” when they receive their referral, but as a professional who works in health care we go to great lenghts to maintian confidentiality and privacy protection. It would not be a surprize that the CCAA requires or will require parents to adhere to this policy if they require it..it kind of makes sense as once you have posted on line or pics…they are there forever?? I know it would be a shame to see those beautiful pics each month, but I would be respectful to the CCAA wishes, families and children..

ps.. when…our referral finally comes this Spring 2009…both my husband and myself have decided to NOT post pics on the internet…

We were told by our agency in the U.S. that we had to wait until after PA, It took us 18 days to get PA from the time our LOI was sent to China, waiting until after TA would be extremly hard I feel for you in Europe. I remember when you dident have to wait at all in the U.S.

As someone said, in the SN program most agencies require parents have PA before they publicly post a name, picture, or medical information.
However, the referral itself, in the NSN program, is kind of like the PA in the SN program. If the CCAA sends you a referral, then they have matched you with this child and they have approved you to be parents. So, most American agencies allow information to be shared at referral. I am aware of at least two American agencies who request that their clients not post the child’s picture or Chinese name until the child is legally theirs.
And, as has been said, several of the European agencies do not allow parents to post certain things until a later milestone. For some it is the TA, and for some they can’t until the child is legally theirs.
Once again, I believe this all falls under the “how you interpret the rules” thing. Some agencies interpret them one way, others interpret them another way. However, I believe the important thing is that the CCAA has not said anything about people posting pictures and names at referral, so at least as of now, it isn’t a problem. If the CCAA ever does decide they don’t like it I’m sure they will make that known to the agencies and the agencies will then make it known to their clients.
I personally believe that you should keep information private that the child may not want to share with just anyone, so I cringe when I see people posting details of medical information for children in the SN program, and detailed finding information for any child. But I don’t personally see a problem with posting pictures, name, age, location, etc.
Sometimes I wonder at the families who post their own last name and the city they live in, though. I personally would not do it, because any thief would know the keywords to look for to find someone that’s going to be out of the country for two weeks in the near future.
