As someone said, in the SN program most agencies require parents have PA before they publicly post a name, picture, or medical information.

However, the referral itself, in the NSN program, is kind of like the PA in the SN program. If the CCAA sends you a referral, then they have matched you with this child and they have approved you to be parents. So, most American agencies allow information to be shared at referral. I am aware of at least two American agencies who request that their clients not post the child's picture or Chinese name until the child is legally theirs.

And, as has been said, several of the European agencies do not allow parents to post certain things until a later milestone. For some it is the TA, and for some they can't until the child is legally theirs.

Once again, I believe this all falls under the "how you interpret the rules" thing. Some agencies interpret them one way, others interpret them another way. However, I believe the important thing is that the CCAA has not said anything about people posting pictures and names at referral, so at least as of now, it isn't a problem. If the CCAA ever does decide they don't like it I'm sure they will make that known to the agencies and the agencies will then make it known to their clients.

I personally believe that you should keep information private that the child may not want to share with just anyone, so I cringe when I see people posting details of medical information for children in the SN program, and detailed finding information for any child. But I don't personally see a problem with posting pictures, name, age, location, etc.

Sometimes I wonder at the families who post their own last name and the city they live in, though. I personally would not do it, because any thief would know the keywords to look for to find someone that's going to be out of the country for two weeks in the near future.

We were told by our agency in the U.S. that we had to wait until after PA, It took us 18 days to get PA from the time our LOI was sent to China, waiting until after TA would be extremly hard I feel for you in Europe. I remember when you dident have to wait at all in the U.S.

FxBrknHrts...

I know that parents are "over the moon" when they receive their referral, but as a professional who works in health care we go to great lenghts to maintian confidentiality and privacy protection. It would not be a surprize that the CCAA requires or will require parents to adhere to this policy if they require it..it kind of makes sense as once you have posted on line or pics...they are there forever?? I know it would be a shame to see those beautiful pics each month, but I would be respectful to the CCAA wishes, families and children..

I just read Pucca1972's post. Is this true? I've not heard this before, but would certainly not want to jeopardize anyone else's adoption ...
