Nothing New

A few agencies have spoken out that they don’t see the CCAA getting all that far into March with this batch. I tend to agree, which is why I said that rumor would be less than an R1 if I had a category that was less than an R1.

I stayed home with the girls today while RK went to work. GG would have been on the verge of being well enough to go back to school today… except there was no school. The three of us have had a pretty fun day, staying in where it is warm. And I’ve had plenty of exercise keeping up with them, and spotting them. GG’s walkover is looking pretty good, and TT’s cartwheel is getting there. Sort of. We built a huge helicopter with Tinkertoys, and a gigantic pyramid with blocks. RK fixed chili for dinner last night so we had that for lunch, why is it that chili always tastes better the second day? Oh, and we probably spent two hours doing silly things in the Klutz Encyclopedia of Immaturity. Talk about a gigglefest.

I’ve briefly surfed around a few times today to see if there were more rumors, and the only thing I’ve seen are the comments from people who spoke to their agency about yesterday’s rumor and were told it wasn’t likely the CCAA would get “that far” into March.

Bummer… I have got to stop letting myself believe things will get better until there is actual progress… oh well, at least I was happy for 30 hours or so.

  2. erika Says:

    This is truly grueling.

  3. LDT Says:

I had an e-mail from my large china only agency yesterday that they are finished with the review of dossiers through March 31, 2007.
I’m still staying positive. I don’t know how far they will get with matching but I do think it will be much better than we have seen in the past.
    Keep the faith!

  4. RumorQueen Says:

As far as I know, nothing has changed in regards to the review room since I made this post: http://chinaadopttalk.com/2009/01/01/happy-new-year/ (last paragraph)

When the box changes I usually have 8 or 10 agencies reporting it all at the same time.

  5. Noendinsight Says:

I would be thrilled if the cut-off was the 7th or later.

The 7th is a HUGE day.

  6. hotmama Says:

I am focusing on the following for next few cut offs: March 6, March 8, March 14 and hoping beyond hope that this succession happens! We shall see … of course, hoping for even more …!

  7. Natalie Says:

Ah well… reporting a rediculous rumour brings in the crowds, doesn’t it?

  8. mumarlene Says:

Natalie…my sentiments exactly……then why report it…I know we all have a choice to come or not to the site…but, all it does is “work” folks up who are already frail and at their wits end…kind of messes with peoples heads…

  9. mumarlene Says:

    hotmamma,

I am looking forward to these next few cut offs…March 6, 12, 18..

Sometimes I just want to take a trip to China and take in the culture and visit some orphanges. It’s so hard being in the U.S. and not having any clue on what it is like in another country. I am a very shelter person. I have only traveled to maybe 5 different states in my 41 years of life. Maybe if I understood the culture better I then would understand the wait and politics of the wait.

  11. maranara Says:

Well, don’t we usually get a crazy good rumor, then a crazy bad rumor, and we land somewhere in between? (at least, that’s how it seems!) So…maybe this is now the bad rumor, and we’ll end up with a week or two of referrals. I just think that they can’t keep up the pace of 3-5 days a month for that much longer. Even if they refer the same number of babies, the longer the wait gets, the greater role attrition plays. My heart breaks for families that waited a year or two (or more) before dropping out, but I’m hopeful that we will see our daughter’s face in the next 6 months or so. (LID 4-17-06)

  12. cassiesmom Says:

Seems to me that the system would not be able to absorb an incredibly large increase so suddenly. But, it seems possible that large numbers of children could become available at the same time. Perhaps this could result in large batches coming a little closer together. Its just hard to imagine that the agencies and people on the ground in China would be able to handle a dramatic, sudden change. I would like to think everyone would try to make it work for the children’s sake, but if the end result is TA’s being delayed for several months because of the volume, then the matches may as well continue to come as separate batches….Just my 2 cents, and I am totally making it up as I go along, just for the record. Just a theory….

  13. 2qts4me Says:

We heard from people who work at SWI ‘s that the Director was approached and asked to consider particpating in the the IA program, she declined. She said the person that approached them claims that most of the current referrals are coming out of the same provinces, and it doesn’t look good. Whatever that means? The person/s wants more SWI’s to consider IA, and mentioned the increase to them. She also said that some SWI are able to place children locally and do not want to participate in any IA program. It was also mentioned that some well off Chinese families are adopting the infants from these SWI’s. necessarily factual, but what I have heard from those that we know who are in China etc. This information was given to them by the Directors. Some of the SWI do not have many infants or none at all, and others have some.
Now none of this is factual, just want they have been told and what they have heard.

  14. RumorQueen Says:

No Natalie, it doesn’t. I don’t see an increase or decrease in number of people here based on good rumor vs bad rumor. And to say that I only report rumors to draw people here seems pretty cynical to me.

This rumor was being talked about in other places, plus I had multiple people reporting it to me, so even though I didn’t (and don’t) give it weight, it needed to be reported. So, I reported and did everything I could to point out that I wasn’t giving it weight. I had a lot of people PM and email me, thanking me for weighing in with my opinion of it. They had seen it elsewhere and wanted to believe it, but since I reported it and gave it such a low rating they weren’t going to get their hopes up.

This is one of those “can’t please everyone” things. If I hadn’t reported it there would be people saying I’m out of touch and not reporting all of the rumors anymore. But I reported it, so there are people criticizing me for reporting it, too.

    Whatever.

  15. scrapping in ontario Says:

RQ, So sorry people are giving you a hard time about reporting what was a true, genuine rumor. And, rumors are what this site is about and what we chose to come read about. Coming here is a choice and if people only want facts then they’re at the wrong place. You did everything possible to rate the rumor low and yet still people give you a hard time. Sorry about that!!

I think you said it best yesterday when you said, ‘I’m here to report rumors, not decide which rumors to report.’

You do an AMAZING job RQ!! Thank you, thank you!! You are appreciated by many!!

  16. waiting2bmummy Says:

I will take any Rumor, preferably more good than bad as it helps us to be informed. Having a place like this is important to my sanity, while I wait. Hence the name, RUMOR Queen..we can take the information as we please. I appreciate anything that anyone gives that makes me feel more connected…

THANKS RQ and Everyone; this is an awesome community.

  17. Meimeiandme Says:

As a person with a 23rd March 06 LID I was delighted to be able to have the thrill of a good rumor that potentially included me while at the same time having the experience of nearly 3 years waiting this time and 1.5 years last time to know not to take it too seriously. Its stirred up my excitement for what is ahead and got me thinking about practicalities as well – I think I have become very numb to it all because of the wait. And along with all of the positive thinkers I will still hope for March being speedier than expected. I also have reasons to hope for a 7th March referral – I was approved on 7th March 2005, file sent 7th March 2006, got through the review room 7th March 2007 and batch mates got their referral on 7th March 2008.
Thanks for the rumor RQ – that’s why we come here.

  18. 2chinagals Says:

RQ I thought the rumor was really fun! It got me excited and thinking about our next baby once again…giggles, diapers ,formula, late nights, doctors apts.,bathtime, food on the floor, baby kisses and of course shopping for baby clothes and I even got excited about ELMO songs!!!! Yay RUMORS!!!!! I needed that little lift and thankyou for reporting it .I hadn’t gone into the new babies room for so long but now I think I will go do a little something to brighten it up…Thanks….

  19. greggw2gs Says:

RQ, Since you can’t say it yourself I will say it for Ya. “Natalie Kiss My Ass! This is a Rumor Site for Goodness Sakes!” Thanks RQ I could not get through this grueling wait with out you… Gregg

  20. sarah123 Says:

This is a rumor site!! Why would you dare critisize RQ for posting a rumor especially when she said she didn’t believe it? Come on, get real here. This is the only place we get any info so don’t bother coming if you’re going to complain.

  21. Leah Reeves Says:

When I read Natalie’s comments it sounded like a little joke because of the 100 comments over that rumor. These kind of sites can be great, but they also give people an anonymity that can get ugly. RQ I hope you remove that comment Gregg left, it very clearly broke posting rules #1 and #5.

    Thanks,

    Leah

  22. azawa Says:

    erika,

You really don’t have to travel to get information about China. You can do what is called “armchair travel”. Go to the travel lit. section of Barnes and Noble and get some books. I read travel books a ton and get so much interesting info. Try “The Last Days of Old Beijing” “Lost on Planet China” “Shadows of the Silk Road” “Riding the Iron Rooster” “Factory Girls” and try the Lonely Planet China guide book. It is fun to read up on a place you will be going. Also watching shows such as Globe Trekker on PBS (netfilx may have it). I love travel books and feel like I am getting some inside info especially if the writer has live in the place not just visited. We have traveled all over the world but with a young child it is on hold so this is how I get my travel fix. A good activity for a freezing cold winter’s day! Happy imaginary travels! Ann

rumor /’rum-r/ noun; 1 A popular story; common talk. 2 A current report without any known authority for its truth; as, the rumor that the governor is going to resign.- verb; rumored; rumoring /-r(-)ing/ To tell or spread by rumor.

Stright from Merriam – Webster’s dictionary for boys and girls. I knew the old classroom Webster would come in handy when I grabbed it from the trash at school. I found the sentence about the governor particulary intersting, since I do live in Illinois!

RQ, we so appreciate your work! Thank you.

  24. overjoyed Says:

Okay I have to stick up for Natalie a little bit here as the “… kiss my…” was a little strong. I don’t agree with what she said at all however, we all know what an emotional rollercoaster this is and our feelings can be quite desperate at times. This is our second adoption and we started two years ago this month (LID 4/20/07) and with our first adoption only waited a little over six months for our referral. At that time I heard that people had waited 18 months once upon a time for a referral and at that time I remember thinking, I would never have gone with China had the wait been that long. AND, here I am and here we all are! Natalie’s comment probably came out of a lot of frustration and pain.

I am so glad that RQ shares ALL rumors as I want to know what’s happening out there and I can count on coming here to find out just that. Agencies often filter the information and I can count on this site to give me the true deal. RQ you blow me away how you stick with all of us through our waits. I can’t imagine going through this long journey without this site and all the wonderful families that understand what our familiy is going through~we go through it together.

  25. JourneytoMia Says:

Oh my. Be nice everyone. I agree a rumor is just that a rumor. You have to ground yourself & decide for yourself what you will give weight & what you won’t. If you don’t want to ride the roller coaster, then do not come to a site that is appropriately titled, “Rumor Queen”. Natalie & Mumarlene, hang in there. It is hard. People are super sensitive about the subject of IA & understandably so. I have a tendency to not self edit & just say what is on my mind & it has put me on the receiving end of some very harsh comments here on this site. However, at the end of it; a tough discussion, I think there is always something that is learned from everyone involved. So, in a way it makes it kind of worth it. The roller coaster ride is tough. I am sure you both were just expressing your frustrations & never meant to be harsh towards RQ for doing just what this site is here for & like it or not that is in fact to report rumors. She also when she can reports the facts & for that & the rumors too we are all grateful as this ride, this wait~it is all hell. We get so little info that we cling onto to any tidbit. You have to be able to take in the rumor, hope & pray like heck that it is either true or not depending & then deposit it in your “rumor” file until it is either proven or disproven. If that is something that proves to be too difficult a task for you then you have to then decide for yourself if a site such as this one is a good one for you to subject yourself too.

& Gregg~be sensitive. We are all going through this together. Even when one of us steps outside of someone else’s comfort zone & says something that we don’t agree with we must support one another. There are ways to express a disagreement other than the way you did to Natalie & Mumarlene. I get it~you were ticked off & shocked, but maybe next time take a step back & wait before responding. We have to not get crazy with one another. This is SO hard for all of us.

  26. Miasmama Says:

RQ, thanks so much for all you do. Have been reading for several months and just decided to finally register so I can post. Best wishes to all as we continue to endure this wait. I remain hopeful for all! LID 6/20/2006

  27. moonpie Says:

I agree meimeiandme and 2chinagals. It took this crazy rumor to wake me up to the fact that there is a baby joining our family in ??months time! I too was numb to it all, I guess to protect myself in case things didn’t work out. But now this rumor, totally outlandish or not, got my husband and I back on track. We are checking flight info and prices, cleaning out her room (finally), and telling others again that we may actually be traveling by the end of summer if not before. We’ve been so quiet about most people forgot we were adopting!! So yeah, I’m thrilled about the rumor if it pans out or not, it couldn’t have come at a better time! We will now be more prepared for when our referral does come. I’m actually looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year this year. Thanks RQ!

  28. Meimeiandme Says:

    Hi Moonpie
i did the garden and sorted my clothes cupboard. I also started a discussion with myself about who might travel with me to give my older daughter and me the support we’ll need or whether friends currently in Beijing might come and join me – they are only going to be there until june. No solutions just important thinking to be done.
    Happy planning!

  29. BigDaddy Says:

Moonpie, I hear you. We are numb from this after 3 years (we have the same LID as you) and a wild and crazy rumor was a good jolt even if it is probably a load of bunk. We put together a crib today!

It’s crazy how you adjust your expectations. I just want them to keep at some sort of “consistent” pace so maybe we can go to China in the summer. Nothing like China in August for a big guy like me. I’ll need a crash cart by the time I get to the top of the Great Wall. Either that or a Tsing Dao and some fried dumplings.

Folks who think I was rude sorry. I thought you were rude to RQ… P.S. This site is moderated…

  31. ziegsma Says:

RQ, your R1 rumor snapped me out of the numb, sleepwalking state I’ve been functioning in for the past year.

THANK YOU! I had almost stopped believing we would ever see the face of this child we have been waiting for for so long.

Keep up the good work RQ, really appreciating all the news you´re sharing with us!!!

And to Overjoyed: We applied in jan 04, so now 5 years on our way with a LID of 12 april 06. You can see that the adoptingprocedure in the Netherlands takes a lot more time than an average US procedure…
