Notes on this batch

It was tiny. Teeny tiny. There were some expedited families included, but from I’ve seen I don’t think there was a large amount of expedited families, so that doesn’t really explain the teeny tiny batch.

Agencies are not reporting that the box has changed yet so I haven’t changed the box here, but it appears the cut off was indeed March 2. A few agencies with March 3 LID’s have reported they did not receive anything and have nothing on the way.

I will update the histories page as soon as I get a chance, and then I’ll work on the Projections and When posts. I’ve got some drafts started of a few posts pointing to blogs and websites of adult adoptees and I plan to begin posting those next week.

I’ve got a lot of family stuff this going on this weekend so I likely won’t have a lot of computer time.

Have you heard anything further on CCAA’s mood or the possible outlook for the pace of referrals for 2009?

  2. Noendinsight Says:

RQ – any thoughts or theories as to why this was such a small batch?

  3. ldw4mlo Says:

I would think or hope anyway. That it was due to a shortened month because of Spring Festival………………

  4. luvluv Says:

What about TA’s? Did anyone with LID 2-24-06 get a TA? We really haven’t heard much.

    Thanks.

  5. lloll Says:

I’m guessing that it may be because March 3 was too big for this short month. CCAA appears to prefer sending a full day vs a partial day.

  6. hotmama Says:

What do people think are the chances or getting through March 7 (a HUGE) day next time? I’m guessing March 6 may be the next cut off, but a girl can hope.

This month surprised me — I didn’t see March 2 coming at all. If indeed they have matched a bunch of March 3 already, then perhaps … perhaps … March 7 is possible.

  7. WaitingforSkye Says:

Our agency reported that it only covered 2 days. Bummer!

I too think that March 6th might be the next cut off and I fear what it will be after that since it seemed to pick up toward the middle of March.

    Here’s to hoping!

  8. aust2china Says:

I think the theory would be…
Chinese New Year – and that its reported that the 3rd is a very big day?

Praying for a big batch in Feb.

  9. emory2001 Says:

I think it was small because of a combination of CNY and the fact that this is the third set of referrals since beginning of December – 3 batches in less than 2 months, that’s pretty good actually! How many March 1′s thought they would get a referral in January?!!

  10. amycate Says:

Emory2001 is right. They’ve sent out 3 batches in only approximately 6 1/2 weeks. That’s actually pretty good, even though this third one was very small.

  11. hotmama Says:

I was thinking that, too — 3 batches in 6.5 weeks is good. So if we now (maybe) have 4-5 weeks until the next batch (if it arrives last week of February), then perhaps the CCAA can get through March 7. But I’ll take anything that enables me to cross off a few more days.

  12. Magnolia's friend Says:

I too think it is because there have been very few working days for the CCAA since the last batch was sent out.

They were closed from 1 to 3 January for New Year and they must have sent this batch out around 20 January – so that is very few working days.

I don’t think it is so much they didn’t have enough time to process any more, rather I don’t think that they would have received many files for the children during this short period.

    I’m sad.
    I’m going to bed.
    Not necessarily b/c I’m sad.
    Mostly b/c I’m tired.
    And sad.

  14. 2qts4me Says:

I really don’t know where all the first rumors came from in the first place. I don’t know of anyone, or any of the agencies I keep in contact with that thought anything would speed up or there would be a big batch. Maybe it was a European rumor. They said, that things are staying the course.

  15. kms Says:

I thought one possible source said they heard REVIEW was going to be announced as complete for the entire month of March 07? They are currently on February. That’s where I think the March rumor started. Somehow review and match got used interchangeably maybe?

This time of year referral batches are always odd. CNY. Last year much of the country was suffering from extreme weather. This year everyone should make it to family to celebrate under much better conditions. I don’t blame them for being upbeat.

  16. BigDaddy Says:

Yeah, I don’t know why were even assuming that the CCAA was happy about anything to do with us. Maybe they just they got a raise or better hours or a nasty boss was fired.

It was nice having that glimmer of hope even if it turned out to be just another in a series of disappointments. But I can’t help hoping that they are happy about some policy or quota change that is going to allow more babies out of the country and it will happen in THEIR new year.

Here we are again waiting to see if that NEXT batch is going to give us a clue to what’s going on over there.

  17. ash2008 Says:

Big Daddy: ha ha! You are cracking me up!

  18. p12 Says:

Possibly the CCAA is happy when they send out small batches!
From now on let’s hope for rumors of an unhappy CCAA.

  19. BigDaddy Says:

Ash2008: Yeah, my wife thinks I’m a laugh riot….NOT (said in Borat voice). But she still loves me even though I drive her crazy with my warped view of the world.

I think you need to have a sense of humor to get through all of this painful waiting. It’s really a “comedy of errors” but here’s to hoping for a happy ending for all of us. I’m a teacher and someone asks me about it EVERY frickin day. I made the mistake of telling people 3 years ago when we thought the wait was 6 months.

Cool website for raising money for your adoption, by the way. Your handmade baby stuff seems really nice. I’ll have the misses check it out.

My agency has told me that they are currently reviewing 4/07.

    Anyone else hear this?

  21. ambers3boys Says:

Hi, My China only agency sent out our places everyone e-mail on the 15th and it said that April of 2007 was in review. But the month before said the same thing, so who knows. Also another family with the same LID as myself and the same agency said we have 2 years before we get a referral. But like I said before who knows!

  22. ambers3boys Says:

    Oh I have a 10/16/07 LID. I didn’t want to scare anyone.

  23. Tammyhope Says:

    Hello,
I am a newbee to this group and any online ones really….just trying to cope with a 04-28-07 lid..of course no surprises to any of you…so now I am addicted now to this and any shred of information to make this wait more bareable…This is to be our first child..I am 43.. I have to say, we have decided that this chapter of our life will truley define us on so many levels. I have been through so many emotions…Its unreal…I need you all because many of my people are clueless as to why this would take so long…I too made the mistake of sharing the good news with a few (now so many know who were kind enough to share) when we were told 8 months would rap it up…oh my goodness! I was just about to give up…when God lead me to some amazing stories of faithful parents to be….I felt ashamed of myself and renewed, that with this like kind of support….I could do it…it was just the kinda push I needed . I have never really felt as out of control on any one thing in all my days. Its that feeling of helplessness, not knowing that about took me out…Now I view it a maturing and shaping me…I guess as a parent its pretty much the same…well I have fastened my seat belt a little tighter….I might add that in my business we travel to China often and work with many great Asian people.
well there is some wind for you…or should I say letters(hehe)
Blessings on your journies, look for the small miracles, and know that its all good at the end of the day!
    Tammy

  24. still dreaming of china Says:

ambers3boys – oh how I would love if that person at your agency was correct about the 2 year wait but I just don’t see how that is possible? I have an Aug 2006 LID and I am estimating a minimum of 30 more months and that is if things stayed at a 6 day average – these 2 day batches only slow it down more :(

  25. A sister 4 Isaac Says:

I am disappointed, but I am trying to stay positive. I am hoping this is a small batch b/c the CCAA wanted to get out the door for CNY. I do feel like the number of days referred are way more important to us than it is to them. Maybe I am wrong but it sure feels that way. Congrats to all of the MARCH families receiving referrals, your wait is about to End!!!!!!

  26. cooperbabe Says:

ambers3boys, did your agency tell you that recently? Have they been saying that since you’ve been LID or have they been fairly mum.

I would LOVE to see Oct 07 LIDs get referred in 2 years because that would mean I would have a referral in less than 2 since we are LID 12/06.

Part of me is like, well, some of the large China onlys have great realationships with folks in China so maybe they’re privy to info others aren’t. The more pragmatic/cynical side of me says they’re saying that so as to get people excited and stay in the program instead of dropping out as well as telling others to stay far away from China adoption right now because of the timelines.

  27. moonpie Says:

    Hey Tammyhope,
I’m 43 and waiting also. You can do this. I know it’s hard but don’t worry about all those other folks that don’t understand about the wait. This is not my first child, but the one most anticipated for sure!! Just live your life, check in here from time to time for progress reports and one day you’ll look up and the time will have passed to the point of a referral on the horizon. We have been waiting for 4 years now since beginning our first paperwork and although at times it seemed like an eternity, some days I think wow it’s really happening and we may be in China this summer, which is just around the corner. And… keep thinking once the bulk of us 2006 folks are out of the way the wait time may change for the better (just my thoughts) Hang in there.

Big Daddy, Thanks! I am really enjoying my new business. It’s a lot of fun.

We also have a big sense of humor around here. It’s refreshing to see it on the site though. So thanks for the smiles!

Ambers3boys, I think we are at the same agency and my understanding was that they are currently reviewing April 2007, but that all of March was out of review. I expect in the email next month for them to say that April is out.

I, on the other hand, am still pending translation. Nice. :)

  29. Noendinsight Says:

ambers3boys – i’m not sure where you agency is getting this.

if it were only two more years for an august 2007 LID that would mean the CCAA would have to start averaging 23 days per month and they’ve been doing six. last month they did two!

if they kept up the six day average it would be eight more years. don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that’s the case! it will probably be somewhere in the middle. once they hit 5/1/07 things will move along, but that’s a long way off.

i just don’t want you to get your hopes up too high for two years – sounds like your agency isn’t being realistic.

we have a may 06 lid and expect at least another year, probably closer to 18 months.

  30. ambers3boys Says:

Not sure who to answer first. My agency is a large China only, not sure that matters really. But when we started this process we were told 18-24 months. And it has gone up to 36 months along the way. I am not holding my breath about it only being 2 years. But in a letter from the president of our agency she told us the wait would not exceed 4 years total. So I guess I will believe it when I see it. It’s kind of sad to think how I feel this roller coaster will never stop, then I look at all of you who have waited 3-4 years already. And I am only 1.5 years into it. So anyway Good luck to us all. I am faithfully going to believe 2009-2010 will bring a big speed up.

  31. wait4ever Says:

When the agency says the wait won’t exceed 4 years, they are probably talking about March/some April 2006 LID’s. Remember, our agency told us the wait would never be 4 years and we were 1-2007 LID. Then, they all but promised that if we spent another $600 to update the homestudy and “hang in there”, we would have referral by summer 2009.
Remember, that if things improve after 2009, my bet that with a summer 2007 LID, you will wait until 2013 at best. Also remember that tons of people logged in between Jan. and May before the new regulations went into effect. Sad to say that agencies are dishonest, but really….where would they be without your money.

    Hello moonpie ,
Thank you for the thoughtful reply!
