I am thinking I should press my agency for reasons why they do not allow concurrent adoptions. Ask them if this is legal and possibly talk to a lawyer. Thanks for the support everyone. This is why I love this site. Here is to our patience and hopr that we ALL will be rewarded soon.

Banany66,

I am so sorry that your agency is trying to stop you from a concurrent adoption. That seems very unfair, have you talked with a lawyer?
I am not sure what we would have done if we could not have done a concurrent adoption. We are thinking of starting our second adoption from Ethiopia while we leave our dossier in China.

Beautiful, moonwater. Thank you.
Can't wait to see what's in the air to scdotson's agency - and all of our agencies, I hope!

Stillwaiting and others, hang in there! Your time will truly come. One of the reasons that I still read RQ even my children are a bit older is that we struggled through 11 years of infertility before we tried adoption. We (only) waited 1 year for each child, but each year had its own drama and challenges. The waiting was very intense. I literally never thought I could be a mother, so adoption for me was a miracle, in the literal sense.

If it could happen for me it will happen for you as well.

Something good is in the air, on its way, it sounds like. It may take a day, a week, a month, or even a year but it will arrive for you. Chinese adoption may be slow, but it has been very certain.

These children are amazing, but it is hard to explain until you experience it. Until my first daughter was placed into my arms, I could not believe it could really happen. She was absolutely everything I ever wanted in a child, ever -- smart, funny in a quirky way, sweet, adorable. I was even secretly afraid that I would not be able to love our second daughter as much, then we received her. And she was also just incredible -- classically beautiful, silly, stubborn, graceful.

So the wait is the price we must pay for our priceless children. As I have said before here, when biological mothers go on about pregnancy and labor, I think of my waiting periods. There were real and they were hard. I waited and it hurt.

Sorry, I meant "concurrent" on it's own - not necessarily from China.

Banany, did your agency tell you their reasons for not allowing you to use another agency for a concurrent from China?
If you're in the US, I'm wondering if your state laws really allow agencies to impose this kind of restriction. How do agencies do this?
