An accidental adoption book

I’ve posted before about Kelley Armstrong’s Nadia Stafford series. It’s not urban fantasy and has no paranormal elements, but I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to the second book, Made to Be Broken.

I’m not really enjoying Made to be Broken. I mean, it’s a good book, but I read fiction to get away from things, and this book is, well, the worst possible way an adoption agency can go bad. Or that’s the way it seems to be going, anyway.

I don’t know how it’s going to end, but right now I’m all twisted inside.

I liked the first Nadia Stafford book, Exit Strategy, and I’m enjoying this book in that I get to see Nadia exploring things further, learning more about herself and what lines she will and won’t cross. And learning a little more about Jack, too.

But the plot is just… wrong. I’m thinking about it at work, for goodness sakes. I’ll have to finish it tonight or it’s going to drive me crazy.
