Review: Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress #4) by Jeaniene Frost
After reading Destined for an Early Grave, I can still say that the Night Huntress Series is my favorite series. Second place doesn’t even come close.
So much happens in this book that is totally unexpected, I can’t really talk about it unless I want to do a spoiler post. Which I don’t.
Almost everyone has changed drastically since the first book… Cat, her mom, Don, Tate, Juan, Bones, even Mencheres is different. More things have happened in four books of this series than has happened in more than ten books in some other series. Ms. Frost packs a lot of action and intrigue and emotion and supernatural intensity and world-building into each book.
We get a teaser at the end about First Drop of Crimson, the first “Night Huntress Universe” book, and in this book it looks like Spade might finally find someone. We’re even told who it is.

2. One Foot in the Grave
3. At Grave’s End

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, now I’m really excited to read it !!! Thanks for the review :) Just curious : Any “hot” scenes like in the other 3 books between Cat and Bones ?

I don’t believe any scene is ever going to hold a candle to the one where Cat dared Bones to scandalize her, to make her wake up blushing the next morning. So, yes, there is one good scene in Destined for an Early Grave, but nothing compared to the earlier one. Makes me wish Vampire venom was real.
This book has…. aaauugghhh, I really want to talk about it but if I do there will be spoilers. There is just too much other stuff happening, there really isn’t that much time for sex.
We do get to see a good bit more of Vlad in this book. And I love that when Vlad calls Cat Catherine, she calls him Dracula, or sometimes just Drac. I really hope that the author is planning to write a book for Vlad in one of her “Universe” books. I think she’s said she has one planned for Mencheres, that should be interesting.
It would be nice to see Tate and maybe even Juan get their own book at some point, too. And how about Annette? Okay, my brain is arguing with me that Juan will never settle down – LOL.

Has anyone read any of the vampire books by Kerrelyn Sparks? I just ran across this Love at Stake series and wondered if it was any good.

That scene was definitely one, if not the best, sex scene I’ve ever read in a book !!! I too wish vampire venom existed ;)

I love these books! I read this one in one evening! RQ do you think this the next book is a continuation of Cat and Bones? Or is it a whole new story about Spade? I hope they don’t end Cat and Bones here!

Jeaniene Frost is contracted for six or seven Night Huntress books, so it’s not the end of their story. So far she’s contracted for two of the “Night Huntress Universe” books, and she’s going to do a book for Spade and a book for Mencheres. Since the events of Spade’s book haven’t happened yet, I’m guessing that those events happen next chronologically, kind of a book in between the Cat and Bones books.
I would love to see her do a book for Vlad.
