The best laid plans…

Last night my intention was to come home from GG’s extracurricular stuff, do the next picture blog post, and then read the next Nalini Singh book, which was released yesterday (and delivered to my door yesterday, as well).

Reality? I had to take TT with us to GG’s extracurricular stuff because RK worked late last night. I took stuff for TT to do, but she didn’t want to do any of that and I ended up letting her “draw” on my netbook to try to keep her occupied. She didn’t want to sit still and be quiet, but she did. Mostly. I didn’t have headphones with me or she could have watched Kai Lan. I guess I need to stick a pair of headphones in the car for situations like that in the future.

We got home past TT’s bedtime, and getting them both into bed in a timely manner was an ordeal, to say the least. GG has a lot of stuff going on in her life right now, plus one of her friends got hurt pretty bad and GG is figuring out how to deal with that. So once I got TT into bed, I laid down in GG’s bed with her to talk. We had a really nice talk. And then when RK got home, he woke me up and walked me to our bed, where I dropped right back off to sleep. This morning I feel hung over, but I didn’t have a drop to drink last night. I don’t know if I went to sleep first or if GG went to sleep first, but talking with her this morning it sounds like we may have both dropped off at the same time – I don’t remember her falling asleep and she doesn’t remember that I fell asleep in bed with her.

So, the good news is that if you haven’t sent a picture in yet, you have until around 7:00 this evening to send one. The bad news is that the second picture post won’t be up until tomorrow. Another three people sent pictures last night though, so maybe it’s for the best to extend things out just bit more.

We actually have a lot going on this week, including a parade that both girls will be in this weekend. Can you believe Santa is arriving already? GG has a huge project due Monday, but we’ve got so much going on this weekend that she needs to get most of it done in the evenings this week because there won’t be time to do the majority of it this weekend.

Let’s talk about what you want for Christmas. Not your kids, not your spouse – but what you want for Christmas. I think that I want a shopping spree for myself. On the day that my parents take my girls shopping for Toys, I want RK to go with me as my pack horse, and let me spend as much time as I want going into and out of stores, trying on clothes and buying what I like. I won’t get the clothes until Christmas Day, so they will be my Christmas gift – but honestly, having the time to do the shopping will be a huge deal for me as well. Since we brought TT home I’ve bought an item here, or an item there, but I haven’t taken the time to completely update my wardrobe. There hasn’t been time for me to do more than try on a few items at a time. That’s not a complaint, BTW. I’m happy my time (and life) is so full. But it’s time for me to buy some new clothes.

What about you? Do you want new clothes, a new tech toy, or maybe a new appliance of some sort? Have you played around with Windows 7 yet? Do you want a new computer (or laptop, or netbook) with W7? Or maybe you want one of those new washer/dryer combined things, so you stick your clothes in to be washed that morning and the machine washes AND dries them, so you come home to clothes that are ready to be put away? I’d love to have one, but no way am I going to spend that kind of money on one. Plus, when I wash clothes I tend to wash a lot of clothes at a time. Big loads. And this is for smaller loads. Still, it’s a cool gadget. One of my friends wants a Roomba and (again) I’d love to have one, but there are other things I’d rather have for the money.

What do you want?

I want a trip to China for Christmas!! But really I would like some rumors for now. This will not be the year for big gifts at our house, and that is just fine by me! Although, I love the idea of a shopping day just for myself. I need to update my wardrobe also.

Well, this year I got our daughter and the trip to China, a trip to New York City for our tenth anniversary and a pair of diamond earrings as an anniversary gift. Plus my oldest daughter hasn’t had a seizure in a while, which is a HUGE gift.

So, there’s really nothing else I want. The front loading washer/dryer sure would be nice though.

I’m with RQ on the shopping spree. I told my husband that’s what I want for my birthday (which is this month) and Christmas combined. The washer/dryer combo sounds convenient, but until it also folds and puts the laundry away, I’m not going to consider it a gift. :)

Wow Christmas…I think I would like a soft comfy (maybe flannel) robe that zips up and goes down to my feet. A gift cert for a massage!!! How about some free time to do whatever I want even if it is absolutely nothing. Think I am gonna’ go see if I can get a picture of the kiddo in her costume on here.

I want an airline ticket. I moved to Alaska this summer and updating my home study is going to cost a fortune. I not only have to fly 700 miles to get my fingerprints redone, I have to fly a social worker that same 700 miles (in reverse) to do my home visit. Will this never end?

There are a lot of things I “want”, however with my husband and other family members being laid off for a very long time now, gifts aren’t an option. I imagine there are several around here in the same boat right now.

You know, I was just thinking about this the other day.
Although neither my husband nor myself actually NEED anything, there were a few “wants” tossed around for fun.

I was scrubbing my heels, and thought, a pedicure would sure make me smile right now.
I also would love some new fluffy towels.
I also like getting my favourite perfume, as well as face creams etc, since I hate spending the money on them myself.

I would love to have our bathrooms gutted and redone, but, reality says they work just fine the way there are, even though they are ugly as sin.

We used one of those washer/dryer machines in Turkey while visiting a friend and I have to say I hope they have imporved in the past few years. They do not dry clothes very well. We would run it for hours then still have to hang clothes outside to dry!

I want another puppy. A Bichonopoo. A Bichone poodle mix. We have a one year old mini poodle already and I need to convince my DH we need a matching set!

  11. Gweny Says:

I love those Keurig coffee makers!! I wish I had one too, but DH turned his nose up at the price tag. I ended up with the Black & Decker Brew N’ Go which does the job.

We’ve had plenty of lean Christmas years. Years where we used our imagination and in some cases made gifts for people instead of buying them something. Years that RK and I bought a necessity and called it a gift for each other (like the year the hot water heater went out and we called it a joint Christmas gift to each other). Years while we were waiting for TT when we bought gifts for GG but RK and I didn’t buy anything for each other. While we were putting everything away for adoption expenses we only had a little to spend, and we wanted to spend it all on GlitterGirl.

I think those years make me appreciate it all the more when we can splurge a bit for Christmas gifts. We still aren’t going to have the kind of Christmas that some people have, but that’s okay. I’m more than happy with what we’re going to be able to do.

If you’re in a lean year then focus on what you do have, and make the best of it. If you aren’t in a lean year then make sure you do something to help out those who are.

I want the Yankees to be WS Champs,

I would love Anthony………. He is the personal trainer at my gym.

A laptop to replace the one that CPR couldn’t save months ago.

    A better camera……………

Very close to getting a job, so these things might be possible……… The Yankee thing is out of my hands though

    O.K., I’ll bite…

Other than our baby which won’t be happening yet with a 6/6/06 LId…. I’d like a shed to put all the bikes and yard equipment in so I can get the car in the garage without worring that someone might ride their bike along side the car and scratch it. I’d also like a nice video camera – one of the small ones so I can start practicing making dvd’s for when we go to China. Then, I’d also like a new sweat suit made by Colorado Trading Company that is made from a microfiber chenelle – so soft. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll get any of that because they are all quite pricy!!! Oh, well, one can still have a list right?

I am getting the kids and myself a Wii as a family gift. We are soooo behind the times! Must be the last family on the planet to get one of these things. Besides, I want to get the workout stuff that goes with it for myself.
