I have to say that it this makes me very happy for China. I've always felt sad about taking a child out of its culture. We entered the China program because it was one of the few that would accept us and just kept waiting and were kept busy with a growing daughter and other life events. If I were to do it all again, I would go SN.

One of our relatives just adopted in China.
They already have a son, he is older. They were very happy to be able to adopt a baby girl. However, they traveled to a different province than where they live. Where they live there are no abandonments. It did not cost them a great amount of money to adopt at all. They said there are many families who do not have 'old fashioned' views about daughters being of blood, but many do about their sons. They said it is becoming more favorable to adopt among the more affluent.
Where my friends volunteer throughout China they said that the SWI's that they work with only have SN's babies available for IA. They either have very few NSN's babies, and they are placed domestically.

Hello.

Have read this site forever but making my first post. We waited out the NSN process with an LID of 3/23/06. We received our referral this past August, traveling in late October, and had an incredible 2 weeks in China with our little girl. Weather was amazing, food was great, company was outstanding, the culture was a life-changing experience. We expected it to profound, but it was 10 times what we expected. Most important, out little girl, who is still months short of her first birthday, is as incredible as humanly imaginable (and quite funny to boot).

One thing that was not made clear to us during 'The Wait' was how common domestic adoption in China is coming. An adoption worker over there made it imminently clear to us that, in this person's opinion, 3/4 of all NSN children in China are now adopted to Chinese couples, often very quickly. This person felt that this fact, far more so that the number of applicants and decrease in abandonment, is making the wait so long for us international waiting parents. I highly doubt domestic adoptions in China cost the $5000 orphanage fee that we paid, also.

NOTE: For those of you traveling in November: Please be aware that the Chinese take the whole quarantine of possible H1N1 patients VERY seriously. The 'Health Declaration' we had to fill out on the plane was extremely detailed, there was a disclaimer on it that we would be held liable for any false information, and everyone did have to walk through a temperature laser net in Beijing. You MUST be below 100.4 with no physical symptoms. It was funny watching everyone on the plane dropping ibuprofen about 3 hours before landing.

Hello all, wanted to put my two cents in. My wife and I were logged in 10/13/06. After a way to long of a wait we were presented with a SN child. A little girl who turns four in January. She has a CL repaired and CP still needing surgery.

We got the
referrel picture 8/24
Pre approval 9/3
LOA 9/10
TA 9/27
waited for USCIS clearance
CA sent 11/10

What I am saying here is that we felt we waiting to long and are starting to get to the age that we were more open to an older child and right now we could not be happier.

Perhaps more of us waiting parents need to explore the SN list, even if you are LID end of April to early May there is still another year wait.

At the end of August we were not even thinking of special needs and now 3 and a half months later, just before Christmas, our little angle will be home.

Its something to think about, God bless all the new families and those still waiting.

That's the best attitude to have. Unless you hear it directly from the CCAA nobody really knows what is truly going on, and even then you may not know. The only thing that anyone knows is that packages are on their way, not what is in them.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I KNEW this would happen. Every time rumors start flying and people get all excited, there's always a big let down. I'm glad I didn't believe the rumors this time because now I am NOT disappointed.....just plugging along with work and life and not even thinking that we will get a referral until 2010.

I am a french future momy. My english is not perfect. Sorry.

My LiD is 29/3/06 I'm pretty new here. Rumors are very exciting but could be very difficult to support.
Today, I'm so disapointed.... All day long I had some difficulties to work, because my mine was turned around THE PHONE CALL (we've been waiting for 4 years) could be tonight..

I know that I'm next and I should be excited.. but reading that we could wait more longer because of a new director... All reasons are good to stretch out refferals...

I have one question : Why the CCAA cannot be clear for the ''WHEN'' next refferals could be sent?

Tonight, I'm gone try to get my smile back....Congratulate to those who are calm and not stressed with that...

This is my first time on here and I can honestly say - after spending so many years cheering everyone on, telling them to hang on, that things will happen when it is ready to happen... I can say that for the first time I am ticked with the rumours right now... I am one for not being pushy cause I appreciate the chance of getting a baby and know things will happen when they happen but this... this is getting very ridiculous. I know they have to be 'safe' for the sake of the babies but at the same time, there are families who are willing to love these babies and I just don't get what they are actually waiting for...
