Review Room, and more rumors
First, it appears the CCAA’s internal box has changed to show review through February 29. I will change the box from home tonight. Assuming I don’t just go home and crash, of course.
Second, we’ve got two more agencies saying they do not expect to see referrals until December.
I have a doctor’s appointment at 4:00, and I’m slogging through at work today. I’ve got myself quarantined in my office, and I’ve warned everyone to stay away from me. It is my hope I can get enough done today to justify not coming back to work until Monday.

Telling numbers, Noendinsight. I wonder if all the other participating countries are seeing the same drop, or if since more countries have been added to the program since 2005, is the US simply seeing a smaller share? In other words, is the total number adopted from China worldwide dropping that dramatically?
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Take care of yourself. Get lots of rest.
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:11 pm
luvbugsmom – the US has been 67% of the total the last several years. New countries of course have been added but I can’t imagine that they would have that huge of an impact.
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:16 pm
also, i should mention that over 50% of that number represents special needs adoptions and there are many countries that don’t allow SN adoptions so the US makes up that majority.

Not to be too negative but after 4 years I believe we have earned the right to wine a little bit. We are preparing ourselves for more delays without explanation even after we receive our referral. Whatever the history has been for the timeline between receiving a referral and travel we are convinced will also provide a great deal of frustration. Can you imagine waiting 4 years for a referral and then being told you won’t be allowed to travel for 6 months…unfortunately I can.
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:23 pm
i feel like we have been robbed. we had fertility problems and decided to adopt instead of IVF. now four years have gone by and i’m too old – that’s no longer an option. but it WOULD have been four years ago!
we chose china over vientam. if we had known we would have had a child from vietnam three years ago.
by keeping us in the dark we have been robbed of years of our lives. many people are enough older now it rules out other options.

Canada stats (don’t have 2009 numbers yet)
Chinese adoption by year:
2004 1,001
2005 973
2006 608
2007 658
2008 429
A little bump in 2007 – otherwise a pretty steady decline.
November 23rd, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Noendinsight’s post of the numbers tell the entire story. I’m sooo sorry for everyone waiting.
November 23rd, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Noendinsight – your situation is the exact same as mine. I am sure there are others too, but it really just hurts. It is so disappointing.
November 23rd, 2009 at 8:46 pm
unreal – a whole year for 31 days (March). I’m speechless! But the rumor did come out the way back when that it was going to take the entire year for March. Merry Christmas to those March families and Happy New year to April….lets me April.

Noendinsight – our situation isn’t exactly the same as yours, but we have pretty much aged out of other options to have a child. Plus, I’ve spent a large amount of the time we’ve been waiting learning Mandarin, so I’m too invested in adopting from China to switch to another country anyway.

Feel better and get some rest RQ. If I remember correctly you are a vegetarian, so vegetable broth and plenty of fluids.
I am discouraged and disappointed. It really seems as if it is never going to happen. Need to find a way to climb out of this hole. I have decided to take a leap of faith and start the nursery. I always said that I would wait for my referral, but maybe I need to make it a little real to keep me going.

Thank you Akina.. and yes, the idea of pieces of dead chicken cooked into soup just makes me want to be sicker than I am.
I do not have the flu, I have some bacterial something that I’m not even going to try to spell. Which means there are antibiotics for it, which means I’ll be better soon.
It also means the antibiotics have me kind of tied to the bathroom this morning. The glands in my throat aren’t as swollen, and my ears feel better, but my bronchial tubes are still pretty rough. Oh, and the over all body ache thing is better. Hopefully by this evening I’ll be much better.

RQ ..If you can go get some good yogurt ….your poor bowel must be depleted of the”good” bacteria…. hope you feel beter soon….
