Haven't read everything yet but this is one of my favorite "kids" Christmas album, and it definitely dates me, John Denver and the Muppets A Christmas Together.

Being Canadian, we celebrated or Thanksgiving last month, but we are well on our way to getting into the Christmas spirit. We have so far purchased a few gifts, but the tree will not go up until mid December. Can't stand the thought of all those needles in the carpet too early!

I positively looooove Nat King Cole & Bing Crosby at Christmas. Their voices are fantastic.
BTW- I am only 38, not 78 :)
And it is not Christmas until I hear the Cheech and Chong version of, well, I don't really know the name of it, and it isn't really a song. It's about Santa and his reindeer and their commune. Makes me laugh out loud!
Does anyone know what that skit/song is called?

For instrumental or mainly instrumental, we LOVE any of the Windham Hill cd's. We also love John Denver's Rocky Mountain Christmas and Sarah McLachlan's Wintersong. Another favorite is Amy Grant's albums--most are traditional carols with only a couple of super-Christiany songs you can leave out if that's not your thing. Same goes for Jo Dee Messina's A Joyful Noise. Highly recommend any of those!

We have Thanksgiving/fall decorations up now, and won't start switching to Christmas for another week or two - except for the Advent calendar and the Advent wreath which starts tomorrow. The season now is Advent, not Christmas. We will get the tree and the major Christmas decorations up the week before Christmas, and they won't come down until Epiphany. I am a traditionalist :-)
BTW, when I lived in Germany as a child, most people put their trees up on Christmas Eve. This was in the 70's. I don't know if that custom has held on there or not.
