Rumor: April complete by June or July
I have it from two (possibly three) separate sources that the CCAA told them a range that they thought April would be complete. The range in one case was May to July, and in the other case was that it should be complete by June. The possible third gives a range that ends in June as well, but I’m not sure if that is the same person reporting the second source, or if this was a third source.
The point is that I have it from at least two separate sources that the CCAA thinks they are going to complete April 2006 by June or July of 2010.
I’m not giving this one an R rating. I believe that someone from the CCAA said it, but whether it will come to pass or not? We’ve heard some things that happened exactly as said, but we’ve heard a lot of things that didn’t happen. Only time will tell. As always.

I was looking at your projections after reading the Rumor post. Doesn’t the rumor indicate that the batches will pretty much stay in the Spring 08 small category then? That doesn’t seem to be “great” news. I guess it is better than having to start a new column for worse numbers!
December 31st, 2009 at 7:38 pm
Well if they’re right, it just confirms what most people are thinking anyway. Aren’t most people speculating that it will take all of 2010 to do April and May? So 6 months to do April and 6 months to do May. That would mean April would be done around June. I guess those people who think it will take an entire year to do April would be happy to hear this rumor.

Andrea is right in that this rumor follows your Spring 08 Small column but I will say it is great news if it is true. Why, because after this one day of referral many of us are worried that they might take would take a whole year for April.
December 31st, 2009 at 8:05 pm
I still think this is great news- as I was really thinking that it may take all of 2010 to finish April! So that would be great!!!!

Yeah! New Director! Great job! Good start!
I always believe that the bad rumors are always true so I’m sure this one is.
Sorry, very jaded lately. It’s been a tough year.
December 31st, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Actually, this rumor is fabulous news for me. I’m a late July 06 LIDer which means 2011 probably will be my year. Of course, I will probably hit the 5 year waiting range AND I don’t think I can stay under the I600A as my last freebie ends Jan 11 which means I’ll have to go under Hague which sucks so…..whew, maybe it isn’t as great news as I thought.
December 31st, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Good news that we have rumors, but it’s not all that thrilling. All this really means to me is that the same trend as the past couple of years is going to happen again…..(two months a year) I just can’t get excited about it.
And if the rumor is not true, then this year will even be WORSE than the previous two. It’s more and more disappointing by the month.
December 31st, 2009 at 10:08 pm
I really hope this one is true. How wonderful for some to see a light at the end of the tunnel!
December 31st, 2009 at 10:24 pm
I don’t think this is good news at all. Now I have 2010 and 2011 to look at.

December 31st, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Yeah, I mean if April is supposed to be such a light month and it is going to take 6 months to get through, doesn’t that mean that the rest of the months may take years to get through?
This is all such a farce. CCAA is just playing games.
I hate to be so sour on the eve of a new year but with an LID of 9/12/06, I just can’t get excited about this.
December 31st, 2009 at 11:06 pm
It is shocking to me that getting through 2 months in a year is good news……but with a 11/06 LID that means 4-6 more years for us, not such good news. I just cannot imagine we could wait 7-9 year for referral, I better start imaging it because it looks to be reality.
My biggest worry is they will stop NSN referrals before they get to our LID, after we have waited 5, 6…years
December 31st, 2009 at 11:09 pm
The ‘good’ part of this to me regarding this news is that there seems to be some communication between CCAA and agencies that we haven’t seen in the past. I believe the months get smaller and smaller as we go along so maybe we will see some June referrals at the end of 2010. Not great news but better than April taking all year.
January 1st, 2010 at 12:01 am
it’s been a bit of a wild ride on rumours lately, but this one restores a little more hope after the poor start to April; with a log in of 06/23, maybe this year WILL be the year……
January 1st, 2010 at 1:44 am
I don’t know if this rumor makes me feel better or more bummed. I don’t even know how I feel any more!! Gah!
January 1st, 2010 at 1:48 am
I feel a lot like everyone else…How many more times are we going to say “this will be the year”? If I was in my early 40′s I don’t think I would mind it as much…but I’ll be 49 in Sept and how many people raise infants at that age? Am I crazy to think that this is really going to happen? All this money that we’ve spent…doctor appts, etc…paperwork and more paperwork and nothing to show for it. But all I know is 2010 has to be a better year. Losing a job and my father has not been easey. New beginnings let’s hope. Happy New Year everyone.
January 1st, 2010 at 2:11 am
if they finish in july, that’ll still be seven months to do april 06 (or do we count this week’s batch and it’s eight months?).
there are about 500 families in april 06 based on RQ’s numbers so if it takes 7 months they would do half the referrals they did in 2009 in 2010 – roughly 900.
but, you know what? i’ll sure take this over april taking all of 2010.
January 1st, 2010 at 2:17 am
The only reason I think this is a better rumor was because our first batch was pretty dismal for April. If the batches were somewhat consistently that small, we’d all be crying month after month. Any news pointing to us moving faster than what we saw in this referral batch is welcome news.

we started the process to adopt from china 2 years ago but became uneligable when the economy took a tumble, but i still follow this site religiously ! lol
i always thought that the china adoption program was one of the most reliable and that however long it took we would all get matched eventually, but looking at the current timescale if we had gone to panel when we expected our lid would be around july 09, it would take 19 YEARS to be matched !!!!!! realistically if they are not going to speed things up then maybe they should stop taking new applicants as at this rate we would all age out by the time we were matched. i truely believed our daughter was in china and it was just a case of fighting for her but obviously i was wrong.
good luck to all those waiting, i really do hope things speed up for you all..surley it cant stay at this speed…….. can it ?!

I too am 49 now but hoping to be next. Our LID is 04/05/06. My husband is 56 but we are still hanging in there.
Our 18 month old grandson has been with us this week so we have had a test of our ability to do this at our ages. We have had a blast and are even more excited to be blessed with another addition to our family.
I don’t know what your LID is but I know people that are more experienced (older) than we are that are or have adopted. Hang in there.
Happy New Year to all!

I’m praying that year new year brings lots of good things, yes it’s been a horrible year for so many of us – but I have to keep the faith – you told me that many times. I’m sure we will get there and hopfully soon.

So.. I am not one to post but here goes. My agency, which should be in the know, is indicating (finally) that anyone May 1st or after needs to be looking elsewhere. This is from earlier this week. This is the first time they have ever stated any date like this.
I’m sorry, I know that’s not what people would like to hear.
January 1st, 2010 at 5:51 pm
I should clarify.. LID May 1 06 and after..
January 1st, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Chinahopin,
Did they say this because the wait will be excessively lengthy, or because they think the program is closing? This rumor sounds as vague as what we hear from China!
RQ, have you heard anything like this?
January 1st, 2010 at 9:02 pm
My agency said they do not feel a shut down is inevitable nor recommend May 06 leave the program. Spoke to our coordinator this past Wednesday.

Chinahopin – what does your agency say if you ask why china keeps accepting new dossiers almost four years after the may 06 dossiers?
January 2nd, 2010 at 1:43 am
I am sorry but Chinahopin’s comment sounds completely ridiculous. I consider myself rather pessimistic when it comes to China but this just crazy. Unless RQ has something to say about this I would not ignore Chinahopin’s comments.
Nothing personal Chinahopin but what your agency is allegedly saying is so far out of left field I do not know what to say.
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:07 am
In reference to what Chinahopin said, first, I don’t think he/she is trying to stomp on anyone’s parade, but simply passing along what his/her agency said – we share information here. But, why doesn’t this discussion move to the “rumor” part of the forum – I believe it belongs there… Lets remember we are in this together.
Said with respect,

Two things come to mind when I hear this rumor. The first thing is QUOTA. How could anyone predict when a month is finished unless they know in advance home many children they are willing to place and how many dossiers are in the pile? Secondly, and more importantly, I sure hope that the loose lips at the CCAA are not the same loose lips that claimed we would have a speed up in 2009. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
January 2nd, 2010 at 11:02 am
I’ve heard the rumor chinahopin mentioned from a few people at that agency. Reading the text, I kind of get the idea that they are saying it could be a while, so you should look at other options if your LID is past May. It also kind of sounds like they are drumming up more business for themselves, as the other options they mention are all options that involve staying with the same agency (waiting child through China, or one of this agencys other country programs). They also recommend a dual process option, which tells me they think people in line past May will get a referral, just that you’re likely to get a referral through another program faster.
They very specifically do not say the program will close, they use phrases like “due to the slow pace” and “hard to predict when”. They aren’t saying people after May won’t get a referral, they are just advising those people to look at other options that could be quicker. And at this point, I think everyone who had the means to look elsewhere probably has, haven’t they?
January 2nd, 2010 at 5:33 pm
All I can say is, “THANK GOODNESS” for RQ!!!! XO
January 2nd, 2010 at 8:21 pm
In regards to the program my agecny says:
“If you are able to wait, you will receive your child match as it is not a matter of if but when”
I found that very comforting hopefully it will comfort someone else.
Also I am please with the idea that April could be matched by MAy, June or July of 2010. : ) IT is exciting to thing that we may be starting my LID month in 6 months.

Suezq2 – Everyone must make their own choices, but here’s a point of view from a different perspective. If you are grandparents, what’s wrong with accepting that you’ve had your parenting years and being happy where you are in life? Why not let young people behind you experience parenthood, especially those who have never even had a chance?
We are so blessed to be expecting our first child, but we had several years of infertility, and my heart goes out to those who are still in that situation.
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:54 am
Maybe One Day… seriously! what’s your point? Writing that ,obviously you were looking for a response ! Does it feel good to ruffle tail feathers? You don’t know these people nor do you know what kind of parents they are ! Maybe they are happy raising children ,maybe you should talk to all the drug addicted ,child abusing idiots about not being parents first. Remember,”wisdom is virtue”. Everyone has a “situation”..one not being better than anothers…
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:29 am
2chinagals-I could not have said it better. Maybe One Day probably hasn’t figured out yet that trying to shove someone off the boat won’t make the boat go any faster.
January 3rd, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Maybe One Day: So shall I assume from your comment that now that you are expecting a baby you will step out of line so those that have no children have a chance?
Suezq2: you sound happy and prepared to be parents again and I wish you all the best.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:21 pm
some people should step out of line because they have already raised children…or they are grandparents…or they already have one child…or they are a single parent…or one of the parents can’t be a stay-at-home-parent…or the family is not a home-owner…or one of the parents suffers from a medical issue…or they are too old…or they don’t have a lot of money…or they don’t have a lot of extended family…and on and on and on and on….off of the top of my head.
can we not do this? this wait is painful for everyone without beating up on one another about who does and doesn’t deserve to be a parent. we were all approved, we’ve all waited in line, we all deserve to be here.
don’t forget that anytime a family drops off it’s a loss of a dream…of money. when most of us started this journey we thought there were so many children that needed homes. and there probably are, they just aren’t being allowed to find them.
i just think we’re all on edge. let’s try really hard to be nice and respectful ;-)))))

So well expressed, Noendinsight!
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:37 pm

January 3rd, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Sorry if I offended anyone – it wasn’t my intention. My husband and I are personally struggling with whether we should keep on with this, and what is the “right” thing to do for others waiting. Clearly, this is a difficult and emotional topic, and I won’t present it again.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:15 pm
Maybe One Day…it is an emotional struggle with no “one size fits all” answer. As much as you would like to consider others, the only right answer for you is what is in your heart. My husband and I are both 50 and childless. We are determined to stay in this until we either bring our child home or they shut the door and tell us to go home. Personally, for me…there have been so many tears and so much frustration that I know it would have been easier to quit. But that is not what is in my heart. I know there is a child for us, waiting to come home. I simply cannot give up on that!
January 4th, 2010 at 12:58 am
Does anyone have any info about the expiration of the increased adoption tax credit due to expire next year? I plan to ask this on the forum under “general discussion”.
I am very worried because there is so little talk about this via yahoo groups/forums/International adoption agencies. This is such a huge issue and yet we all seem to be letting it just slip away, if it does the tax credit will go from the current $12,150 to $5,000, this is just a drop in the bucket to the total IA cost. I know we would have to seriously reconsider our decision to leave our dossier in china. I know the tax credit affects everyone differently, but for us it was the reason we have been able to adopt 2 children from Ethiopia and still be able to bring our child home from China(if that day ever comes)
Anyone out there worried…come to the forum.
Thanks

Last fall I made the choice to go special needs. My login date was 6/12/06 but now I have a happy, healthy, and beautiful 3 year old. Her health issue was dealt with in China and she is fine now. I got her in April – our trip to China was remarkably fun and adventurous. My blog is: http://beccaandruthschineseadventure.blogspot.com/

Hey glass half full, that would have us receiving our referral in 6 years vs the 12 at the current rate. I’ll take it given the alternative!!

Here’s hoping things speed up too!

I would have to say on this note…there is finally light at the end of a 4 year tunnell. With LID 4-12-06 i can only HOPE they finiah April in 6 months so that we will get our referral in 3-4 months. If they do finish April in 6 months…wouldn’t that mean they have to do more than 2 days a month….and therefore is speeding up some? OHHH I HOPE SO!!!!!
Prayers to everyone!!!
