Babies!!!

Congrats to those seeing their child’s face for the first time!

If you are expecting a referral in this batch, or if you are in another program and would like to share your news, please list blog name and blog URL in the comments to this post. If your site plays music automatically, please post a warning.

The following blogs have pictures!

The following families have their referral but no pictures yet:

The following sites have music and are not work safe:

Congrats to all of the families included in this batch, and congrats to everyone else with good news to share!!!!

If I could have help with that last category, please. I’ve disabled all of my computers from automatically playing (most) music on websites. It seems to be impossible to disable all types of music. But, since I think I’ve finally got most of it disabled, it’s hard for me to know if a site plays music. I know that many people want to check the blogs from work, and I’d like to be able to keep it safe for them to do so.

any word on the travel approvals? if any one has adopted a special needs from china, i would love to communicate.

  2. tfarmcats Says:

This is the reason I keep coming back. Congrats to all who will be seeing their sweet babies faces this month.

  3. momto4hopefully Says:

My cheeky red shoes- That is such an amazing story. I read your blog post with the biggest smile on my face. Talk about an unexpected baby, LOL. Best wishes to you and your surprise referral!

  4. ionethesandbox Says:

My Cheeky Red Shoes – Thanks for sharing with us! So amazing and so so adorable. Good luck!!

  5. blackjack Says:

Heard from our agency, match info is in translation and will be ready Wednesday a.m.!

  6. MyDaughtersMom Says:

    My Cheeky Red Shoes….
Your story reminds me of those shows with the woman who doesn’t know she’s pregnant.
Your version of it could be…I didn’t know I was paper pregnant. haha
    Congrats.

  7. Chinawego Says:

RQ: We are logged in as of 2/2/12 to the SN program. Are you referring this match to SN and NSN? We are excited and new to the matching process. Congratulations to everyone receiving matches.

  8. RumorQueen Says:

Chinawego – Families in the SN program generally can’t share much information as soon as they are matched. They have to wait until they have something official from the CCAA saying they are matched to this child. In some countries, families can’t share pictures or (pre-adoption) name until the child is legally their child – no matter the program. We sometimes have families from those countries share once they are in China and they have the child in their arms.

The last section is for anyone in another program who wants to share their news – that could be the China SN or SF program, Russia, Ethiopia, a domestic adoption, etc.

  9. RumorQueen Says:

While I’m happy to see these two families, I’m terribly sad that we don’t have more.

I’m leaving this page up for the day.

The poll is closed and I’ll try to get the results uploaded as soon as I can.

  10. Elsie Says:

I was just thinking the same thing….there seem to be less and less of those sweet faces each month. Congrats to the new families!!

  11. LID 09/12/06 for Mia Jade Says:

My agency stated they are making calls today so hopefully we will see match announcements today.

  12. ionethesandbox Says:

Pretty soon there will be no use for the Babies post since so few people post anymore. Very sad! But, have no fear baby lovers, when I get my referral in the next couple of months, I will be posting it all over the place and shouting from every rooftop!!

  13. scrapping in ontario Says:

I wonder if February calls have even begun? The 2 posts indicated are referrals that were received a while back. 1 is a SN file and the other is a friend who received her referral in January but is just including her information now.

  14. still dreaming of china Says:

scrapping in ontario – yes I think the calls have begun because there are a couple of people in my Aug facebook group that have rec’d their referral or they are expecting their calls today!

  15. ionethesandbox Says:

Scrapping in Ontario – I have a friend who got their referral in this batch (a U.S. agency) and she got her call yesterday afternoon, so calls have started.

  16. blackjack Says:

I just created a blog to share our referral pictures. http://tamtrek12.blogspot.com/
It is very minimalistic as I’ve never done a blog before, but very excited to share our news! Our large agency said there were only 5 families matched from 2 different SWIs. Don’t know if we’ll have travel companions yet because at least some of the other families are I-800 and we are I-600.

  17. ionethesandbox Says:

Blackjack – Congrats!! She is adorable!!

  18. livin1973 Says:

Hello. This is my first post! Our LID is 8/16/2006! I have been in touch with our agency but they do not have any information yet!!! She said that our agency is usually “not the first, and not the last” agency to get the referrals in hand. I am checking my phone and email all the time!! I know it is close and that we are in this batch, which is surreal. I know I am sharing with those who understand the “waiting game”. We have been waiting 5 1/2 years, and can hardly imagine what it will be like to see our daughter’s face!!

  19. RumorQueen Says:

There were some reports of phone calls in Europe yesterday.

I’m thinking the US Holiday possibly threw everything off? Maybe? I figured deliveries should happen everywhere but the US Monday… but apparently not.

  20. blackjack Says:

I thought the agency would probably receive on Tuesday (U.S.) but I was surprised to see FedEx and UPS trucks both driving around on Monday. We were contacted by our agency on Tues that match info was in translation. Since we are local to our agency, they invited us to come get our referral in person. They decorated the office with “It’s a Girl” and “Congratulations” banners. Very festive! I know they used to do group referral parties when the number of families was big, but we were the only family there this time.

  21. Tresordasie Says:

Our agency in Canada received 2 referrals on Feb 21 for LIDs Aug 16, 2006. Congratulations to the happy families!

  22. waiting_and_waiting Says:

We recieved our referral yesterday with a LID of 8-17-2006. She is a beautiful girl from Jiangxi province turning 2 in April. Our I171H expires on 4-23. Our agency feels confident we can get our consulate appointment before this happens. Keep your fingers crossed.

  23. blackjack Says:

waiting_and_waiting: We are going to Jiangxi also. See you Nanchang possibly?

  24. livin1973 Says:

Congrats to waiting and waiting…and blackjack!
What does SWI stand for? and NSN? (non special needs?)
    Thanks for your help.

  25. blackjack Says:

    livin1973, Thanks!

SWI = Social Welfare Institute (what the orphanages are called in China)
    NSN = non special needs

Some other common abbreviations are listed here:

  26. LouiseMe Says:

Congratulations to those matched!! RQ, I wonder if you might consider a change to the format of the Babies post. While I always look forward to the post and to reading everyone’s blogs, I think the format is a bit outdated and visually underscores how few families are referred. I’m wondering if you could do a list with parenthetical notation instead of the categories that never get filled these days. For example:

    Blog 1 (referral with picture)
    Blog 2 (expecting this batch)
Blog 3 (not safe for work)

so just a list of blogs with parentheses denoting their status. I just don’t see this situation getting any better and it’s actually kind of more depressing seeing all the blank spots rather than focusing on the families that are matched.

  27. guangximom Says:

Personally I still love to see the “Babies!” blog whether there was just one family that posts or 10 families. I know after 5 1/2 years it was so satisfying to see my referral on the Babies page :-) I vote to leave it as it is.

  28. waitingfornumber2 Says:

Blackjack, We just adopted from the same SWI in January. Our Daughter’s name is Long Shi Liang, and we have a picture of her in that same red chair!
Congratualtions to everyone receiving a referral and wishing everyone good trips to china. It seems that most referrals are from Jiangxi now doesn’t it?

  29. waitingfornumber2 Says:

Another note to anyone adopting from Sichuan in Jiangxi….take lots of prunes and apricots!!!

  30. Michele Says:

We have our RA so I also wanted to share. Our LID was 4-16-07, but we switched to SN in October. We are so happy to announce our referral and happy for everyone who also received a referral this month! I posted a photo of our girl:

  31. HavingFunYet Says:

We have a LID of 8-17-06 and no one seems to know why we haven’t heard anything. Our agency has not heard anything. They are following RQ and trying to determine her source of info. What does that matter when people with LID’s of 8-16-06 are getting their referrals? Our original agency went out of business due to various reasons (incompetence). We have often wondered if our China paperwork was even completed correctly. For a long while our LID was unknown and we were told that many people do not know their LID’s. Does anyone have any ideas about what may be going on? How long does it takes for all referrals within the set dates to be received? Even if we have to wait longer that is fine just want to make sure there isn’t a problem.

  32. livin1973 Says:

    thanks, blackjack!

  33. livin1973 Says:

havingfunyet- we have a LID of 8-16-06 and have not received a referral yet either. Our ageny has told us that not all agencies get their paperwork at the same time, and she told us to expect that. They know that they are not the first agency to hear, and not the last. Our agency is guessing that we will not hear anything until next week; they are not concerned that anything is wrong, just a matter of timing. It sounds like you are in the same position. And also, we did not know our LID for awhile. I can’t remember the reason, but we were told not to worry because our agency was aware that the paperwork was accepted in China. We eventually learned the LID. I hope this helps.

  34. HavingFunYet Says:

    livin1973,
Thanks so much, that does help a lot knowing that we are not alone. We both may be posting pictures by next week. Thanks :)

  35. livin1973 Says:

    HavingFunYet,
You’re very welcome! What a wonderful thought that we may both be posting pictures next week!! :)

  36. livin1973 Says:

    Michele,
Congratulations!! Beautiful little girl! What a joyous time.

  37. HavingFunYet Says:

We are NOT going to see our referral any time soon. Our current agency just called. Seems that a request for further documentation over 5 years ago put us in a Sept LID but no one knows when in Sept. We were given an Aug 17 2006 LID and no on seems to know how or why. Hope to see everyone’s referral pic’s links on here for this month by next week. Congrats……

  38. fiona_var2 Says:

I’m so sorry to read your bad news, HavingFunYet. I’m an end of Sept LID, and know this must be very upsetting for you.

  39. soontobemom Says:

Congratulations Michelle! Our daughter was diagnosed with TOF and was found to be normal upon arriving home. We waited a total of 3 years and 8 months. It was a hard decision but we switched to the sn program too. Our daughter has been home 1 1/2 years now. Life is great.

  40. Daly Limit Says:

Hello, We received our referral on 2/21/12. Our LID is 8/17/06. Please see our blog, it is dalylimit.blogspot.com. Without a doubt, we are very proud!

  41. livin1973 Says:

HavingFunYet, So sorry to hear about the confusion with the LID. To get so close and have the date pushed back must be so disappointing.

    Daly Limit, Congratulations, she’s adorable!

Is there anyone who is expecting a referral in this batch, who has not yet received one?? My LID is 8/16/06 and I have not heard anything yet.

  42. Stillhopingfor2 Says:

livin1973 did you get yours? Did you call your agency? Hoping for the best.
