Christmas Hits

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

So far, the surprise hit of the year is GG’s Tangle Teezer. The reviews are great, but I figured it had to be some sort of gimmick. However, GG says this is her favorite gift of all, which is pretty amazing, considering some of her other presents. You’ve all heard me complain of how tender GG’s head is, and this thing seems to have miraculous powers.

Next on the favorites list is the Double Barrel Marshmallow Shooter. They shoot mini-marshmallows for ammo, and I may need to buy two more, so RK and my dad can join the fun, ROTFL.

GG also seemed to like her new Kindle Touch Skin more than I thought she would. Apparently enough of them have Kindles that she’ll be happy to have hers stand out as different.

Both girls are more than happy with their Pokemon Card Packs, and Twinkletoes (who loves to organize everything) loves her new Pony ZipBinĀ®. It stores all of her My Little Pony pieces, and opens up to be a corral so she has a place to play with them. For those with boys, there’s a similar Hot Wheels version, though it’s smaller.

And what girl wouldn’t want a Pink Fishing Tackle Box? Not for fishing tackle, but to store other assorted items. GG has her makeup and other beauty supplies in hers; TT has her doll clothes and accessories folded and sorted in the various compartments.

I’m pretty happy with my Wet/Dry Ladies Shaver. I tried it out last night, and RK seemed pretty happy with the results. *clears throat and moves on*

TwinkleToes is (of course) more than thrilled with her DSi XL, but my little organizer seems just as happy with the Carrying Case, with special places for all of its accessories.

My mom seems happy with her Kindle Paperwhite. I still have the older version Kindle Touch, with no real reason to upgrade. The paperwhite is very nice, but now that I know it doesn’t do Text-to-Speech I’m happier keeping my old Kindle Touch. I don’t use the feature much, but if I’m at a critical part of a book it’s nice to be able to let it read to me while I’m driving.

What have been your hits and misses so far?

I will be ordering a tangle teezer today. Jess has a very sensitive head. Jess seems to love all of her presents although I think she’s finding the furby a bit more annoying than she thought she would. Jason loves his ipod that he received. My favorite present was the mac sports folding wagon. I told DH this was at the very top of my wishlist. It will be SO helpful when I go to scrapbook crops. DH is very happy with his beer of the month club. It was a lovely holiday and amazingly, I was able to get everything in this month that I wanted even with having surgery. We made cookies, went to the enchanted village, went to the winter wonderland which is a farm that is all lit up, and made a gingerbread house. Lots of good quality family time with my favorite people.

We got the Tangle Teezer (called the Bean from BB and Beyond) last year. My daughter has waist long hair and it’s pretty thick. This does not get all the way through the hair -the bristles are just not firm enough). It’s great for my son’s hair or I think not super long hair or really tangled hair. We liked it at first, until school started and we realized we didn’t have 20 min to try to brush the tangles out of her hair. Just wanted to let others know….I’m also sure my husband didn’t spend almost $20 for it, more like $10-check Bed Bath and Beyond if you want to try it out.

My little girl loves her beyblades, lego starwars stuff, harmonica and nerf gun. We also had fun with her math dice out at breakfast this morning. Pink anything she would of had no use for.

The big hit at our house was a retractable Ping Pong set that turns any table into a ping pong table. We all had a great time with it.

GG’s hair is slightly longer than shoulder length and very, very, very thick. She has to brush from the top and then from the bottom, but she did so with a regular brush as well.

She usually spends five to ten minutes in tears with a regular brush in the mornings, but had the snarls out in only two or three minutes, with no tears, with the newfangled thing.

Her hair is about as long as it ever gets right now, as we cut it when the tears get to be too much in the mornings. My philosophy is that pretty hair isn’t worth the tears. We’ll see how well this does long term, and whether she can grow it longer with this.

I found it at WalMart (or maybe Target) for more than Amazon was asking for it, so Amazon got the sale. Didn’t go to Bed Bath and Beyond, though.

My girls (6,7 and 8) each got a camera and some scrapbook supplies. Huge hit! They have scrapbooked for hours already. Bop It is a big (noisy) hit. We’re just beginning to play all the board games and Mario Kart so we’ll see how those go.

We have the best Christmas present ever. An offer on our house that is not contigent on the buyer’s home! 30 minutes to go on our contigent contract with another buyer that has 24 hour right to refusal.

Abby, you are right. That IS the best present ever. Hahaha…

Older son got a razor E90 scooter…electric. 12 horus to charge for 40 minutes of riding which is fine as I am a fan of NONmotorized toys. Keeps them active. He is in heaven. Elis Rey?? Her huge hit is her new pair of Elmo slippers. My older dd, Chase, is loving her rollerblades, and Kincaid, my 4 yr old ds, is thrilled to be using his new spiderman web shooter. Now I have blue slime all over the house. Good times.

Whether it be DVD or doll, Doc Mcstuffin rules the home. :)

The classics ruled at our house. My 7 year old loved her American Girl doll and agreed that they look alike, although “I’m not sure about the eyes, Mom.” She is supposed to have almond eyes, but they look pretty round to us. She has not put her down in two days.

I have the tangle teaser as well and used it when my daughter had super curly but fine hair and it worked pretty good, she still hates getting her hair combed/brushed due to sensory issues but it made a big difference. We also have the Reimington tangle tamer wet/dry comb. It is a electric comb and it worked great also. http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Tangle-Tamer-Wet-Dry/dp/B000JI9JYQ

My 7 (almost 8) year olds favorite is the Loopdedoo. It’s a friendship bracelet maker that is SO EASY and has fast results!!!!
