How many times have I heard parents say “you can’t stop a tantrum once it starts”. Usually given as a reason that they aren’t trying to intervene.
While I do occasionally have luck stopping a tantrum once it has started, it’s not something that you can always do. It’s true that once it starts it can [...]

TwinkleToes went Pee Pee in the Potty!!!!!
And she is soooo proud of herself. She points to the potty and claps her hands and waves her arms around in the air when you talk about it.
Anyone know where I can buy some 6 month sized panties?

Is there some unwritten rule that moms do not get to go to the bathroom in peace?
Take this morning, for instance.
While in the bathroom attempting to take my, err, morning constitution, I had a full audience.
First, TwinkleToes wanted up in my lap. I’m not exactly going to tell her no, so up she came.
Then [...]

I asked TwinkleToes if she wanted to sit on the potty. She signed that no, she did not. I asked her if she was sure, she gave me a look that said “did you not just see me tell you that I do not?”. Well, okay then.
About an hour later I saw her looking at [...]

When I was little we’d use Kool-Aid on our hair and we’d have vibrant pink hair for about two weeks before it came out. But, my hair was not black when I was little.
Has anyone tried this on black hair? Does it show up? I don’t want to try it and have it not [...]

I am not trying to compare the two girls, but I also know [...]

My mother informed me this weekend that I have a bunch of gray hairs that have sprouted since we arrived home with TwinkleToes.
Looks like I need to make some decisions. Once upon a time I said I was going to age gracefully and not fight it. Right now I’m more inclined to fight it.
It wouldn’t [...]

TwinkleToes has now been to see her first movie in a theater. She enjoyed it.
I really like the Shrek movies, they have humor for adults that goes right over the kids’ heads, they have lots of stuff that is good for kids, and even lots of eye candy that babies enjoy watching.
The basic moral of [...]

Earlier today GlitterGirl and I had the “fair” conversation again. And this time she brought up that TwinkleToes had to live in an orphanage longer than she had to. I agreed that yes, she did.
And then there were lots of questions about what she (GlitterGirl) could and could not do when we brought her [...]

I’ve talked some about how we American’s don’t see clean water as a luxury, but as a necessity. It’s pretty eye opening to discover that many people in this world consider it a luxury that they don’t have.
There are other things that I think we (or our kids, at least) see as necessities that are [...]
