Parent Movie Review: Shrek the Third

TwinkleToes has now been to see her first movie in a theater. She enjoyed it.

I really like the Shrek movies, they have humor for adults that goes right over the kids’ heads, they have lots of stuff that is good for kids, and even lots of eye candy that babies enjoy watching.

The basic moral of this story is that “you get to decide who you are, just because other people see you as an ogre/monster/loser/villain doesn’t mean you have to act that way”. All in all, a pretty good lesson.

There was one section that scared TwinkleToes: some trees were walking around looking menacing and she started whimpering a bit. I told her it was okay and the scene was over pretty quick and all was well with the world again.

Both girls enjoyed the movie, as did RK and I. I don’t have any kind of movie rating system, but this would get a pretty high rating if I had one. Maybe call it five crowns, rated for a good day at the movies for the entire family?

My only regret, really, is that they showed the preview for the Transformers before the movie. That was a bit much for TwinkleToes, I ended up facing her away from the screen and we did mouth and tongue exercises to each other (part of speech therapy but she thinks it’s great fun) until the preview was over.
