Mornings

RK and I are not morning people. We just aren’t. It’s one of the things we love about each other. Before kids, we’d wake up in the morning and just grumble at each other until we were both fully awake. And that was fine with both of us.

We have been blessed with two kids who wake up happy. They are morning people. When they wake up, most mornings they are happy to be awake, they grab the day with gusto. There are mornings it is hard to wake GlitterGirl, but most mornings she wakes up bright eyed and happy.

If you’d told me long ago that one day I’d be smiling and laughing shortly after waking up, I’d have told you that you were crazy.

But the sight of those smiling faces is enough to make me smile. I’m still not really a morning person, but I am capable of smiling and laughing in the morning now.

Oh, RQ, I envy you more than I can say. Adorable child nothwithstanding, I can barely function before I’ve been up and about for a while. I hope this doesn’t mean I’m ruining my child for life because I can’t be cheerful immediately on awakening!! eeek!
