No

TwinkleToes has learned how to say “no”.

She’s been signing “no” for a really long time, but apparently the spoken form of the word is just so much more fun to say.

Last night after a whole bunch of “no” answers I said “are you just saying ‘no’ because you think it’s fun?” and she started giggling.

For the time being I’ve stopped asking yes or no questions when possible. Instead of “do you want green beans?” it is “do you want green beans or lima beans?” and I hold both cans out so she can point to the one she wants. She has answerd “no” to the multiple choice questions a few times and I just say “I didn’t ask yes or no, I asked you to choose which you want”. And the next “no” gets from me a “oh, you don’t want to choose? Okay, I’ll choose for you then, let’s cook the green beans.”

I’ve also tricked her a few times. I smelled a stinky diaper and said “do you need to be changed” and she said “no”. I said “oh, you want to wear your dirty diaper?” and she said “no”. So I changed her.

I got really frustrated during this stage with GlitterGirl, but I’m kind of enjoying the game part of it with TwinkleToes. Maybe it’s because I know it’s just a stage this time. Or maybe it’s because I know that later there is a stage that is much more difficult with the “no” answers and this one is a piece of cake.
