Blankies
For those of you who have kiddos who put their blanket in their mouth - how do you keep them clean?
Oh, how I wish I’d known TwinkleToes was going to choose this blanket this way. I’d have bought 20 identical blankets if I had known.

We wash IV’s blanket in woolite on cold water. Then we quickly dry it by itself (small dryer, so its not as bad as if we had a regular size) to get through the process faster. Luckily she has 2 that she loves, so we can switch it up a bit. If its really nasty, we rub a little extra woolite on the spot that needs special treatment.

A friend of mine ran into the same situation when her daughter attached to a blanket I’d made for her as a gift. Thankfully she realized it quickly and I was able to make 2 more. It’s now 6 months later and numbers 4 and 5 are in the mail as we speak!
Are you able to find more anywhere? What about eBay? It’s amazing what you find at eBay.

We do recieving blankets, right now she has 4 in rotation. I have to say though I did the choosing not her it is what we started with cause I have seen the trauma of getting attached to an animal, doll or specific blankie. I have siblings who have traveled miles and miles over a forgotten blankie or bunnie etc… For that very reason, I didn’t want her attached to something I couldn’t easily replace or wash.

I don’t really have a suggestion but I would like to recommend a very sweet book. You might know it- Owen. So cute. His mommy has the same issue. Owen’s blankie is pretty disgusting and his story is pretty adorable!

Not sure why that link didn’t work. Owen was written by Keven Henke.

I’d love to know how to clean chinameimei’s “taggie”. It is incredibly dirty after all it has been to China and back. Getting back-ups is quite key!

Our daughter chews and sucks her blanket (and calls it her “blanket”– no cutesy name!) at night time and when we travel. It stinks. I actually own two that are the same, but she will only use one of them. To get rid of the stench from all that sucking, we actually soak it in vinegar, let it line dry (if weather permits), then wash it with our regular All Free or Purell and the vinegar smell (as well as her spit smell) disappears. It sounds like a long process, but it’s not. She’s never had to go to bed without it. And for the record, my husband actually launders it.

that should have said “Purex,” not “Purell.” The point is that we don’t use any strong detergent and the vinegar smell still washes away.

Both of my girls have blankets as lovies. My big girl will tell me sometimes to give “blankie” a bath (wash it). She doesn’t put it in her mouth. My little one, has a thing for yellow washclothes. Thankfully, I can get a new one at Target (we have four in rotation along with a yellow hand towel). She doesn’t care which one she has as long as it’s yellow. She does put it in her mouth, but I make sure it gets a prewash and a nice extra rinse whenever they go into the washer. She asks for her “towel” all the time!
