Back to school

I don’t know who this is harder on, me or GlitterGirl or maybe even TwinkleToes. The schedule of the new school year, plus the extracurricular activities, plus homework, plus having a two year old running around, is quite frankly kicking my derrière.

I was asleep before 8:00 last night. A Friday night.  And I really needed it.

TwinkleToes is not sleeping well, and I’m not sure why. She usually sleeps through the night, but the past week she’s been up at least three times a night. Which also is not helping things in the tiredness department. She ended up sleeping on top of me for about five hours last night, but she slept very restless. I have to wonder if it is because GG’s in school now and not with her during the day. A change in schedule, so I’m guessing that’s probably it. I hope things smooth out for her soon. I wish I had the time to be able to take a day off to just spend with TT right now, but I don’t.

When we got home yesterday I sat on the sofa and had GG curled up in my lap snuggled in and we talked about school for an hour. Which of course gave us all a late dinner, but such is life. We didn’t have to worry about homework or going somewhere or getting ready for the next day, and it was well worth it to hold off on dinner a bit to just talk. I gave TT a snack while GG and I talked and she was very happy playing with her doll and eating her snack.

I love the teacher GG has this year, and she does, too. I feel so fortunate that she is in such a great school with such wonderful teachers.  We have the perfect situation and it is still pretty hard to get into the swing of things again. Hopefully next week will be easier.

It’s interesting. We were in China about the same time you were, I think, late March and early April. Our daughter was waking up 3-4 times a night SCREAMING last week and so was another girl we know in a different travel group but in China at the same time as us. Saturday and Sunday night were better (only up once, no screaming) so hopefully things are headed back to normal. We have not made changes yet but will in about 3 weeks when my 6 months of leave is up and our DD is going to go to daycare.
