Food

TwinkleToes likes spicy food. No, she loves it. When she eats something spicy there are lots of sound effects that let us know she thinks it is yummy.

GlitterGirl can’t eat anything that’s the least bit spicy or there is much drama about how bad it burns. She doesn’t eat onions (even cooked onions if she can see them), rarely eats garlic, and especially won’t touch anything with hot pepper spices.

GlitterGirl is quite angry that TwinkleToes can eat stuff that she can’t. She’s tried a few things that TwinkleToes was eating, even though we warned her it was spicy and would burn. And there was (of course) much drama around how much it burned. She is quite upset by the fact that her baby sister can eat stuff that she can’t handle.

GlitterGirl is currently lobbying for us to just not have anything spicy at all in the house so that no one eats something that she can’t eat.

Her lobbying efforts aren’t working, of course. But I give her credit for her tenacity.

Sofie loves spicy food as well. Today we were in the grocery Store and I realized she had onion skin in her mouth and was sucking on it. YUM!

I’m a waiting Mom, LID 9/30/06, and as a huge foodie am hopeful that our daughter will like/tolerate/love spicy foods, especially onions and garlic. I hope I don’t have to make mac & cheese for the next 20 years. My theory is to start out early with a food mill and grind everything we’re eating into what she’s eating to get her use to the flavors. Of course if she has the same reprocutions (the farts) as I do with garlic and onions maybe she won’t like that either.
