Mornings

I do everything I can to make mornings go as easy as possible. I lay clothes out the night before, baths are done the night before if they are needed, and everyone goes to bed 30 minutes before I’d like for them to be asleep.

And some mornings this works. I wake up and get myself ready and then get the girls up and dress TT while GG dresses herself and then faces are washed, and teeth are brushed, and hair is brushed, and barrettes or ponytails are put in, and all is good with the world.

Other mornings don’t go quite so good. Coming off of a long weekend I supposed this morning was destined to be a morning of chaos. TwinkleToes woke up while I was getting ready, and then GlitterGirl had a really hard time waking up at all. And I’d forgotten that today is an extracurricular activity day and had to pack GG’s other backpack at the last minute before we left (it felt like Monday, but, it’s Tuesday).

And now I’m at work and remembering something I forgot to get for myself, so I’ll have to swing by the house on my way to go pick GG up this afternoon which means I will have to leave work early.

Is it supposed to be this complicated? Most days I feel like I’ve transitioned well to being a mom of two kids. Other days I don’t feel that way at all.

Totally off the subject but have you read the Book “China Ghosts”? I just finished it and liked it a lot. Thought you might also.

Here’s to hoping that tomorrow morning will be back to normal.

This Friday DD goes for open house then starts preschool next Tuesday. I’ve decided I’ll need to wake her us 2 hours before she needs to be at school as she is sloooooooow in the morning. Her preference is to stay up late and sleep until 10:30 or 11 in the morning. Not sure how I’ll handle things once her sister comes home.

I also try to be organized and do as much as possible the night before but you never know how long it will take to get a 3-year old ready! I’m not sure what my mornings will look like when our second child arrives. Most mornings I feel like I’ve run a marathon by the time I get to my desk at 7:00.
