Thanking your child’s teacher

Glittergirl had an exceptionally good teacher this year. Maybe the best teacher, ever.

I got a Thank You card, just a generic one with flowers and a Thank You on the front, and blank on the inside. I’m going to write a little note inside to thank her for making the school year so wonderful for GG this year, and for making learning fun. I’ve also got a Target Gift card for $50 to put inside of it. I know she has to dip into her own money for some of the things she does for the class, there is no way the school gives her the budget for all of the decorations and visual aids she has.

The owner of APC is a teacher and she usually says that writing a letter about the good job she does to her principal would be great, so I think I’m going to do that as well.

I think that’s a great idea. I’m a teacher and the best possible gift is when parents take the time to write a heartfelt note of thanks. I save them and read them again when I’ve had a tough day. I have to say that the gift card is a generous, wonderful gift as well! Much better than a mug– :)

I’m not a teacher, but I do agree that there is nothing better for a child than a great teacher. I’m glad that your daughter had the experience of one! (I hope my future child does one day, too.)

I’m a former teacher and I have to agree! A card is wonderful and the gift card is even better. I don’t know any teacher that doesn’t dip into their own personal money to do his/her job. It’s just the nature of the business.

Also, if GG has an “other” teacher that did a great job (like a PE, music, art teacher)…they’d appreciate a note too. They’re the ones that really get left out of the mix most of the time. Like, when it’s send a flower to your teacher week, those extra/other/special area teachers typically don’t get anything. It’s more work to write multiple notes, but it really means a lot. Just my two cents…

A letter to your daughter’s principal is a wonderful way to support her teacher.

Principals need to hear when one of their staff is doing a great job…..so many times all they hear are complaints.

We teachers, too, need pats on the back every so often….and it is extra nice when our supervisors know that we are getting them. :-D
